Lenovo IdeaPad P1 Windows 7 Tablet Up for Pre-Order at $599

When it announced the IdeaPad P1 Windows 7 running tablet in mid-July, Lenovo failed to provide the public with any information regarding retail pricing or the complete hardware specs of the device, but all of these have been now uncovered as the slate was listed for pre-order by ExcaliberPC.
 The IdeaPad P1 is built around a 10.1-inch screen with a native resolution of 1280x800 pixels that features multi-touch support as well as finger and pen input capabilities.

Just as we suspected when we first wrote about this tablet, ExcaliberPC has now confirmed that at its heart stands an Atom Z670 processor based on the Oak Trail architecture.

This was especially designed to be used in tablet devices and outside of its single processing core that is clocked at 1.5GHz and the 512KB of Level 2 cache memory, it also sports an integrated Intel GMA 600 graphics unit.

Based on the PowerVR SGX 535 GPU, the GMA 600 includes hardware acceleration for MPEG-2, VC-1, and AVC HD videos as well as DirectX 10.1 support.

The processor is paired with a maximum of 2GB of DDR2-800 memory, while storage is provided by a 32GB or 64GB solid state drive.

The rest of the configuration includes 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and optional 3G connectivity, a microSD card slot, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, dual 1.5W speakers and a USB 2.0 port.

All these are powered by a 2-cell battery pack that Lenovo states it can go up to six hours without requiring a recharge.

When Lenovo officially launches the IdeaPad P1, the tablet will be available in two colorways, silver-gray or "Clementine Orange," but ExcaliberPC has only listed the gray version so far. No word on availability just yet (outside of the Q4 estimate), but pricing is set at $599. (via Netbook News)
